In 2019, Tran was the National Arts Strategies’ Creative Communities Fellow and featured as one of the WBUR Artery 25, a series highlighting millennials of color making an impact in the Boston arts scene. Tran currently serves as a board member of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB). Furthermore, she is a graduate of the Center for Third World Organizing’s Movement Activist Apprenticeship Program (MAAP) as well as the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC), Hai Bà Trưng School of Organizing, Undoing Racism®, and AARW’s Dorchester Organizing and Training Initiative (DOT-I). Tran also received a certificate in Non-profit Management and Leadership from Tufts University & Institute for Non-profit Practice (INP) in 2019 and an executive certificate in Art and Cultural Heritage Law at Georgetown University Law Center in 2020. Tran received her MA in Arts and Politics at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her BA in Ethnic Studies and Visual Arts at Brown University. Born in Vietnam, Tran came to the United States with her family as political refugees and grew up in Boston's Dorchester and South Boston working-class neighborhoods.

We welcome emerging and established artists regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or disabilities.Ngoc-Tran Vu (she/her) is a 1.5-generation Vietnamese American interdisciplinary and transnational artist and cultural strategist whose socially engaged work draws from her experience as a community organizer, educator, and healer. Tran moves between mediums and materials to work in painting, photography, sculpture and social practice so that her art can best resonate and engage with its audience intentionally. Gallery artists range from emerging artists to mid-career artists who hold distinguished teaching positions in the Boston area. As an artist-run gallery, Bromfield places a premium on unique vision and pushing boundaries. Submissions for the Visiting Artist program and for membership are juried monthly by the gallery artists. Bromfield features three galleries and a flat file for browsing. Other yearly exhibitions include Winter Works in December, and a group show of gallery artists. SOWA comes alive during each month's First Friday opening receptions when galleries and design stores open their doors in the evening in a festive atmosphere.īromfield Gallery's yearly SOLO competition, which awards two solo exhibitions to emerging artists, is a vital platform for New England artists. Nearby is the Boston Center for the Arts, which showcases visual art, cultural conferences, and independent theater companies. The gallery is located in Boston's dynamic SOWA district (South of Washington Street) in the South End, home to over a dozen of the city's contemporary art galleries, along with high-end furniture and design retail, and an array of fine restaurants. With an emphasis on New England artists, Bromfield shows contemporary art in all media, including printmaking, sculpture, painting, and drawing, as well as video, installation, and new media. Founded in 1975, Bromfield Gallery is one of Boston's premier artist-run galleries.
